Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool is currently closed for summer break. We encourage families interested in enrolling for fall classes to check out our Virtual Tour and the information pages in our Program section. In-person tours are currently unavailable due to the covid-19 pandemic, but we encourage you to contact us to learn more about the preschool and current openings.
Family Movie Night on Friday, Nov. 8, at 6:00 PM
Join us for Family Movie Night on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6:00 PM!
The event begins in the church lobby with a pizza potluck dinner. Good Shepherd orders the pizza, and we encourage families to bring a side or dessert to share. Fun preschool toys will be available in the lobby classroom for kids to play with while they wait for showtime (or whenever they would like a break from the film!).
The movies will begin around 6:30 PM. “The Lion King” (the new, “live-action” version from this past summer) will play on the big screens in the church sanctuary and on the TV in the lobby, which overlooks the play area. “A Dog’s Journey” will play on the screens in the newly renovated Shepherd’s Hall.
We hope to see you there! Please let us know you are coming.
Soccer Practice Is Still On for Oct. 30
Just a quick update for everyone who has asked about Avanti Athletics’ weather policy - here are the details from their website:
We do our best on inclement weather days to keep the players safe and still get as much soccer in as possible. In the event we have to cancel for weather, we’ll notify you through a combination of email and text message (if opted-in). The school will also be notified so that students are dismissed according to their regular dismissal procedure.
If a make-up date has been scheduled, the scheduled date will be activated. In some cases, due to facility availability and scheduling, make-up dates are not possible. If this is the case, make-up dates are offered at a practice time outside of the after-school hours.
We contacted Avanti to check on the status of today’s practice, and they said the weather is looking good for early afternoon. If anything changes, they will contact you directly to let you know to pick up at the regular dismissal time instead.
Please Help Us Expand Our "Hello" Display
Is there a language important to your family that is not yet represented on GSLP’s “Hello!” display in the preschool hallway? Pick up one of our extra display cards outside Ms. Fischer’s office and write “hello” in that language (and write the name of the language on the back) so we can add it. Thank you for helping us ensure all our students and families feel represented at our school!
Ages & Stages Questionnaires Due Friday, Oct. 4
All preschool families received an Ages & Stages Questionnaire as part of their parent orientation packet.
These questionnaires help us screen our student population for developmental delays and provide teachers with information on how to help your child make progress in the classroom.
Results from the questionnaires will be shared at Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Please drop off your completed questionnaires in the office by Friday, Oct. 4.
Conducting regular developmental screenings is part of Maryland's accreditation and quality-rating standards for preschools and child care centers.
